When is preferred an air to water heat pump system and when a VRF air conditioning system?

The air conditioning systems with air to water heat pumps are preferred in cases of domestic hot water production, underfloor heating and cooling, in systems with fan coil units or central air handling units connected to air-ducts. A VRF air conditioning system is preferred when the accurate control of the comfort conditions in the air conditioned rooms (temperature, relative humidity, fan speed and the fresh air intake) is needed. Additionally, a VRF air conditioning system is preferred when space saving (indoor and outdoor) is important in the building’s composition, due to the fact that the piping dimensions in VRF systems are significantly smaller than any other air conditioning system. When the building’s needs require heating and cooling simultaneously in different rooms according to their orientation, it is also preferred.
